The Somerset County Cultural Diversity Coalition is recognized as the State model for the development of cultural awareness and education. For nearly five years, the SCCDC has worked diligently to promote multicultural understanding in the workplace as well as in the community through various educational programs and cultural events. The SCCDC has been producing a "Resource Directory" for members and community stakeholders since 1996.
The directory is imprinted with sponsor logos and is widely distributed to targeted schools, libraries, businesses and community organizations throughout the county.

2007 NJ State Human Relations Award

DIVERSITY COALITION RECOGNIZED FOR PROMOTING DIVERSITY IN NEW JERSEY

Each year the New Jersey Human Relations Council awards organizations and individuals who make a significant contribution promoting prejudice reduction to prevent crimes based on race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or disability. This year, the work of the Somerset County Cultural Diversity Coalition will be recognized at the NJHRC’s annual awards meeting, November 1st, at Mercer County Community College in West Windsor.  

The New Jersey Human Relations Council acts as a clearinghouse for information and program ideas for the existing county and municipal human relations commissions. Among its many activities, the Council cooperates with state, county, and local government agencies to educate, encourage, develop, promote, and strengthen respect for human rights and cultural diversity to prevent and combat racism, intolerance and bigotry.
